Short History
The Museum,
named after Giovanni
Rambotti, has been opened in 1990. The idea of founding an archaeological museum related to lake Garda prehistory was born around 1980 owing to
R. Perini digs in the pile dwelling site of Lavagnone, where he found the Early Bronze Age
plough.
Finds collected by local archaeological groups in submerged Bronze Age villages
(Gabbiano di Manerba, Corno di Sotto, Porto Galeazzi,
Lugana Vecchia and Maraschina); the "Mosconi
collection", consisting of objects recovered in the site of Lavagnone during peat digging works; the field-walking for pottery, flint and metal objects, carried out by
E. Merici, G.A.D. and "La Palafitta" group, in Desenzano and Lonato sourraundings, enlarged the museum's collections with Paleolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age
finds.
